At this stage, I think it's wise to focus on one animal and expand once I've got the aesthetics right. In the last module, I underestimated how long it takes to construct information graphics and the effort that goes into them. This is the data that I have got so far from many sources, the main one being:
Lesser One-horned rhino
Less than 50
Habitat Loss, Poaching, Genetic Diversity
2-4m long, 170cm high, 900-2,300kg
Horn length: 25cm
5-6 years (female)
10 years (male)
Browser (nibbler) leaves, shoots, soft vegetation.
1 shot in 1988 to confirm the species had survived the war in Vietnam.
This aims to give the reader an overview of the animal before hitting them with tear-inducing information about the creature's fight for survival. I aim to communicate the data through icons, charts and circular manipulation.
